Escape to the Northwoods
Silver Lake Lodge isn’t just a cabin in the Northwoods—it’s a family tradition that began almost a century ago.
Back in the 1930s, Silver Lake was known locally as “the old swimming hole” for the boys of the nearby Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp. At that time, the spring-fed, sand-bottom lake was tucked away at the end of a twisting gravel road and had only one home on its shoreline.
One summer, a young girl named Carroll Jean Falkner discovered the lake while visiting family nearby. She quickly fell in love with its clear waters and peaceful setting. Her father, George, came to see it for himself and was so moved by its beauty that he purchased as much shoreline as he could. Before long, he built the family’s first home here, beginning a tradition of lake life that would shape generations to come.
Years later, George’s grandson—Dave Anderson—made it his dream to build a log lodge on this very same property. He poured his heart into bringing Silver Lake Lodge to life, creating a space where family and friends could gather year-round. For Dave, the lodge was more than just a structure—it was a way to share the joy, adventure, and togetherness that Silver Lake had always brought to his family.
Today, that tradition lives on through Dave’s daughters, Stephanie Jenson and Jen Carlson, who now welcome guests to experience the lodge and the lake just as their family has for generations. For us, Silver Lake is not just a destination—it’s where childhood memories were made, where family bonds grew stronger, and where peace and adventure meet in every season.
Whether you’re visiting for a cozy winter retreat, a summer of lake adventures, or simply a quiet escape into nature, our hope is that Silver Lake Lodge becomes part of your story, too.
Welcome to our family’s little piece of the Northwoods. We’re so glad you’re here.
